A couple of people have instagram’d us in this past week and it’s been interesting to experience the progress of our tour through their eyes. It’s easy to move past a moment relatively quickly before really taking it in when you’re on tour, and it’s nice to have these little accessible reminders of what we’ve done so far.
I can’t express how rewarding it’s been—although we’re doing our best to take in these moments it’s not always easy, and it makes it hard to pin down a good way to describe the experience as a whole. The response to our shows has been positive and welcoming, and we couldn’t really ask for more than that, but we’ve also had a lot of enjoyable downtime with good friends, some excellent beach views, and the awesome spectacle of hundreds of people gathering in a park to celebrate their diversity. Currently we’re resting in San Diego with our hearts and minds on our hometown and its people as well as all of the other people who have traveled to Austin to support the banning of legislature that is politically driven, discriminatory, and straight up stupid. I know I wish I was there to join my voice with all of yours. NO TO SB5.
I’m so proud and happy to know that good, intelligent people abound in this world and that no matter what we will make sure that our voices heard. Even if it’s just in an inclusive love song, every bit of visibility and noise we can make is part of the momentum we can use collectively to push forward and make the communities, states, and countries we reside in better places.
Thank you to everyone who has come out to support us so far, it means the world to us. And thank you to those in Austin who are rising up to support progress and oppose the politicizing the health and rights of women.
